Natural Selection 2 FPS/RTS Hybrid Gets A Big Update

By -
Natural Selection 2 has gotten two updates recently 256 and 257 to give you lots of big fixes with a few new features thrown in for good measure too.

QuoteBuild 256 is not quite all we wanted to be. There are still a few issues outstanding, which we may discuss in more detail in a future post. For example, the server will still occasionally hitch and 32bit players will still experience memory issues. We are working full time on rectifying both issues. 256 does feature a solid reel of smashed bugs and it is all around a much better experience than 255. For example, many of you will be happy to note that input lag has been reduced all renderers: D3D9/11 and OpenGL. Increased input lag was one of the most frustrating aspects of build 255.

Main Features
  • 40+ bug fixes
  • Improved commander UI
  • Improved FPS on Biodome map
  • No more D3D11 choppiness
  • Drastically reduced input lag
  • Badge system repaired
  • Free gorge tunnels

Sweet, I'm glad they're really giving us the support after porting the game! Unlike the guys over at Killing Floor or The Cave... I don't know why they're so slow to address our issues.

Regardless, I'm glad I bought this game. Feels like a high quality premium Tremulous experience :)

I can hopefully play without the game crashing all the time for me now!

I've got sound issues where the game will suddenly lose all sound after 15 minutes or so of playing. Not very bad, but playing without sound really ruins the experience for me.
