As usual the Linux fans on Steam have been doing there thing asking developers about Linux versions and this time it's no different.

A developer stated on a thread on the Steam forum:
QuoteThe game is currently limited to Windows, but we are examining our options regarding potential Linux and Macintosh releases in the future.

Starpoint Gemini 2 is Direct X 11 game (also work on Direct X 10, without some features).
open gl port is is possible, because the graphics framework is isolated, and easy can converted.

For now the focus is making the game work on every DX10/DX11 computer.
Then we have to implement a lot of features.
Last but not least, open gl port (linux & mac)

So while not 100% certain, it's a good indicator the developer is willing.

About
Captain your own space ship and roam the galaxy in 3D in this tactical space simulator with tons of RPG depth ! Space has never looked so inviting - but images can betray...

It has been two years since the end of the second Gemini war, and the situation in the wartorn system is further from resolution than ever before. The collection of freedom fighters named Gemini League is now reduced to a small group, with no power or influence, after losing their leaders. A multitude of Imperial warship fleets and mammoth motherships have crushed every trace of opposition. The situation was looking bleak, when they suddenly halted their armada and re-shifted their focus on fortifying Starpoint with staggering numbers. I wonder when these people will learn that developing on OpenGL right from the start can save them much more time and money.

By the way, this game looks awesome, it remindes me of Homeworld, I am looking forward to see it on Linux!
