Looks like S2 games is creating a "second generation" as they call it MOBA (Multiplayer online battle arena) designed to be more casual and less toxic than current MOBA's.

Called Strife this game looks to be rather interesting that's for sure. Looks like it will be a fully Free to Play game where you only pay for customization.

There will also be far less heroes to play as than current generation MOBA's to make it less confusing and to try to stop specific role heroes, apparently all heroes can fit specific roles, but also be rounded enough to be useful in general.

It will have a Karma system that is affected by people voting you as a nice person or a jerk during matches, which will affect the types of items dropped for you. I like systems like this, but they can be open to abuse so it remains to be seen how well it will do.

I have signed up for the beta so hopefully in future I can give you some actual impressions of it.

They confirmed to us that it will support Linux as with all of their games:

Yes indeed! RT @gamingonlinux so can you guys confirm to us yet if #StrifetheGame will run on Linux?

I don't think it looks like LoL too much.

Yes, but LoL's graphics aren't exactly original either. As long as it's not a 1:1 clone.

I like the idea of a less toxic MOBA. So far the only MOBA like that has been Awesomenauts which isn't exactly like a traditional MOBA. :P

I am sorry, but Strife is always going to be the one built on the Doom engine for me. :P

Agreed, Awesomenauts is loads of fun.  It's the only MOBA yet that I've figured out how to enjoy.  DOTA2 is definitely something, but that "something" to me is not yet "fun".  Interesting?  Impressive?  Perhaps. But not exactly fun.

That said, in my experience it degrades well graphically to run pretty well on Ivy Bridge GPU's, so I would consider it a pretty good port.  On the other hand, Awesomenauts is 2D, so it's a bit hard to compete with it in terms of performance.  It's always going to run smoothly!
