The Unvanquished project has hit Alpha 19 which brings in major changes to gameplay to move away from the Tremulous project where they branched off from.

Judging by their changelog it seems like the game is closing in a gameplay style very close to Natural Selection 2:
QuoteBuild points are earned through a resource system, and will require you to make extraction structures on both teams.

Not a bad thing, it's part of what makes NS2 fun so I hope it works out for them.

Amongst the resource system the changelog:
  • Radar - Acts like a motion sensor
  • Dretches can evolve
  • Humans and aliens higher than dretch level can crush stuff from falling damage
  • Flamethrowers set stuff on fire
  • The usual assortment of graphics rendering improvements and bug fixes

Sadly the game for me is just too fast, while it could have some excellent gameplay in it the game itself still feels exactly like the bunny hopping, wall bouncing quake shooters, I wish they would slow it down a notch.

They need to do an updated video to show it all off, maybe that's a job for us if anyone would like to see an up to date video of it in action? Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

That sounds like a wonderful idea, Liam. I would definitely want to watch that.
