GOL Cast: Awesome Sliding Stunts in Glare

By -
We've seen a huge influx of platformers, some in 2.5D and some with pixelated 8-bit style, so it's obvious that some of us have already gotten tired of them and actively prefer other genres over platformers, me included. But Glare was something that I actually like for multiple reasons.

Glare is a 2.5D action platformer where you play as Shiner with the mission of freeing the world from infectious creatures called Ramora, which are trying to sink every world into darkness. You have a variety of abilities that you acquire throughout the game, including the Glare, which you can use to deflect enemies and activate various things.

The graphics aren't the greatest strenght of Glare, but I really like how the environments look. Somehow the distinctive worlds just work so really well and they are integrated into the platforming elements really well. There isn't much story to be told here, but just progressing through the levels by using a wide variety of different platforming tricks like walljumps makes it really enjoyable.

Of course, if you don't like platforming at all, you won't like it with this game either. But if you liked Trine then I suggest you check it out. The game is available through Steam and you can also buy it through the Humble Store widget on their website.

Seems loads of fun. Here's a fun fact: plural of 'fungus' is 'fungi' as in 'fun guy' ;)

I fully agree.  The game is quite addictive, and at least I find the graphics very beautiful.
That's why it's on the list of games that I already bought :D
