FacePunch Studios have announced via the Rust website that we should see a Linux version in future of their new survival game.

QuotePlaying NOT using the webplayer will have quite a few noticable advantages. It'll start up much faster because you won't have to download all the packages. It will run faster. We'll be able to release a Linux client.

So, they are using Unity for the game and will be dropping the web-player so they can support Linux (amongst other things like Occulus Rift).

There aren't many details on the game yet at all as it looks to still be pretty early in development, so it has no official videos or screenshots on their website, I did manage to find this video of it that their official youtube account linked to:

I must say after watching that I am pretty excited!

My thanks to Garry & the others from FacePunch Studios for looking at Linux support!

We don't really have any games like this, Linux has been mostly left out of the 3D MMO survival games (apart from Minecraft of course).

You can buy an Alpha key which gives you access to the full version on release here. They only sell 100 keys a day and the price starts high and gets lower through the day. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

what the actual fuck. Sorry for my language but native gmod on high settings produced mouse lag and I know it not just me cos my friends have it as well. Even Gmod on high settings in wine is better so if they want to support Linux then at least they should improve garry mod first.
