When you played a RTS or MOBA, did you ever wish to come down and keep the enemy at gunpoint in dynamic battles? In Universum you can!

While it was already covered in our crowdfunding columns done by our excellent community contributors (many thanks!) this game more than deserves its own article.

QuoteWhen you played RTS or MOBA, did you ever wish to come down and keep the enemy at gunpoint in dynamic battles? In Universum you can:
- Command your troops on high or come down and keep the enemy at gunpoint in dynamic battles.
- Fight in 5 dimensions: ground, air, underground, open space, underwater.
- Play infantry, vehicles, mechs or alien creatures.
- Customize your character and research new technologies.
- Enjoy beautiful graphics, realistic physics and incredible visual effects.
And all of this, on the beautiful landscapes of alien planets with their unique nature environment, physics and disasters, in the huge world of Universum.
Much more? Explore a global map of the universe, where your space troops will be able to resolve the dispute who will rule the Earth and the galaxy tomorrow..

Well it does sound interesting but wait until you see the trailer, the visuals are bloody impressive.

Something to note: Most of this has been done by one person, crazy!

The developer emailed this in to remind us of some new videos, so here they are.

Colour me in impressed paint, looks like some lower end computers will also be able to join in thanks for a decent amount of settings.

This is one of the more impressive Kickstarters I have personally looked at, great work.

One single man doing everything on a game that pretend being beautiful, large, and fun to play with lot of features? Let me doubt it. Would take years and years

Technically it's a two man team, but everything you see so far has been Cyril's work over the past 12 months after leaving his work (French studio Monte Christo) to set up his own Indie. Yeah, it could be risky endeavour - $40k only stretches so far after all, but look at those videos, showing what he's already achieved ON HIS OWN! I think it's worth a $25 punt if it's your kind of game.

The work to date is very impressive.  One thing that concerns me, however, is his ability to build a game that will scale well with large numbers of players.  Doing so takes a very different mind- and skill- set than what he has demonstrated so far.

It still looks awesome as a single player game, though.  :-)
