The developer of Void Of Darkness let us know that the game is now available on Desura for Linux and it's currently in Alpha with a full release expected later this year. The game itself is a 2D space exploration game with combat, trading and a ship-load more.

Bumadar submitted this game to us back in May, so it's great to see it finally hit Linux.

I must say it looks and sounds pretty good, if you are into your space games, then it's a must get.

Combat Demo - Desura

It has too many features to fully list them but here are some interesting ones I picked out:
  • A huge universe to explore
  • More than 10 alien races to make contact and directly interact with
  • Dangerous anomalies: Wormholes and Fluxes which lead to unknown and dangerous places
  • Haggle/Barter with merchants for the highest possible price for  goods you wish to sell or whittle them down to the lowest price for goods you wish to purchase
  • Obtain various classes of Starship from Corvettes to Dreadnoughts
  • Engage in Fleet Combat
  • Beautiful particle FX for all effects in the game, shields, lasers, torpedoes and explosions
  • Manage your crew, they eat, they sleep and consume supplies. They provide various bonuses to your ship and they can die!

Full feature list.

Think I need to add this onto my rather long 'I have to play this before I die' list. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Looks a lot like SPAZ. I guess that's inevitable for this genre.

Not saying this is bad :)
