So recently a boxed copy of XCOM Enemy Unknown & Civilization V together popped up on Amazon and it prominently lists Linux as a platform option, not only that but Borderlands 2 as well.
The Borderlands 2 GOTY edition lists the release date as tomorrow the 8th so we will see very soon if it's a mistake by Amazon.
It lists the available date as the 22nd of October for the XCOM/CivV bundle so we don't exactly have long to find out, but it would still be nice if we got confirmation somewhere.
Is it easily possible that this is a mistake on Amazon's part but it has been up for a few days no with no adjustment done on it, so is it possible they are heading our way?
If you remember Steam's recent announcements there was this image:
Source - Which shows off Civilization being played, although it's also possible that this is to demonstrate SteamOS's streaming ability.
Considering the list of other games it shows in the Linux Games section on Amazon I think most of this is just an Amazon website issue, so don't get your hopes up too much.
The page states at number 11 of the best sellers for Linux as Football Manager 2011, only the 2014 version will support Linux for example.
To me it sounds like someone dealing with this at Amazon isn't quite sure what Linux is and just ticked a box for a load of games.

You'll find Microsoft Train Simulator being listed as a Linux title on Amazon. I'm pretty sure they goofed.

Also Plants vs Zombies. And if you check the page for the game, it gives only Windows/MacOS hardware requirements.

I guess Amazon will fix it quickly if enough of us buy some of the games

maybe they decided to list them all because of streaming on SteamOS, like "oh cool, now every game can be listed as linux cause SteamOS can stream it"

I have contacted 2K games about this as they list NBA 2K13 as supporting Linux / Unix as well so it's easily an error on Amazon's side.
It would be nice to see this cleared up though.

I remember seeing those a while ago. Never took them seriously. I wish it was true, but I guess we can assume they cannot tell the difference between Linux and OSX, or simply have no clue whatsoever. I really would like to be proven wrong on this one, though.

Amazon will not even list Linux support in the Indie games they sale that support Linux. It's not an error exactly, It's just incompetence on the part of the site maintainers. Remember when I was complaining many months ago?. ;)
