So recently a boxed copy of XCOM Enemy Unknown & Civilization V together popped up on Amazon and it prominently lists Linux as a platform option, not only that but Borderlands 2 as well.
The Borderlands 2 GOTY edition lists the release date as tomorrow the 8th so we will see very soon if it's a mistake by Amazon.
It lists the available date as the 22nd of October for the XCOM/CivV bundle so we don't exactly have long to find out, but it would still be nice if we got confirmation somewhere.
Is it easily possible that this is a mistake on Amazon's part but it has been up for a few days no with no adjustment done on it, so is it possible they are heading our way?
If you remember Steam's recent announcements there was this image:
Source - Which shows off Civilization being played, although it's also possible that this is to demonstrate SteamOS's streaming ability.
Considering the list of other games it shows in the Linux Games section on Amazon I think most of this is just an Amazon website issue, so don't get your hopes up too much.
The page states at number 11 of the best sellers for Linux as Football Manager 2011, only the 2014 version will support Linux for example.
To me it sounds like someone dealing with this at Amazon isn't quite sure what Linux is and just ticked a box for a load of games.

Hardly, what Phoronix is doing by not clarifying the issue is just mean. I think Liam mostly did this to counter the wave of websites getting peoples hopes up.

Borderlands 2 and XCOM would definately be interesting, seing as they're both UE3 titles and, to my knowledge, the only 2 ports of UE3-games are Dungeon Defenders and the unreleased version of UT3, both by Ryan C. Gordon.
Seings Triple-A releases possibly coming to Linux could mean, that Epic now has an official Linux branch of the engine, which in return would mean easier porting for other UE3 titles!

Think there is a fairly high chance for the XCom/Civ5-Bundle (and then maybe other games from 2K) to be released on Linux.
The Steam announcement I suppose to be a good hint already. Vavle announced that some AAA-titles for SteamOS being in the pipeline and why should they not hint (in this screenshot) to one of them and instead "randomly" pick a title only playable via streaming functionality.. . Furthermore Amazon lists this bundle explicitly as "multi-platform" as seen in the Link. And no Mac!
For other games listed in the Linux games section, like the NBA games and the Train Simulator, you only see "PC/Mac" and the PC-part with Windows logo when clicking on it.
Just my two cents..

I've said it some time ago on this site: Civ 5 is most likely coming to Linux. Valve is a billion dollar company. They will not randomly pick a desktop game and put a screenshot of it into one of their top announcements of the year. Things like this are very careful choices and the Amazon page now is another clue.

I think there's a only a tiny chance of these games being ported, personally.
If you dig into Icculus's statement about UE3 ports, you'll realize that it's a patchwork of this and that, due to Epic's frequent code drops (probably to address issues found by their big licensees). It's my feeling that (despite his modesty on the subject) any UE2.5/UE3 port he's done is 40% OpenGL already working, and 60% Icculus doing what he does (chiefly porting the rest to SDL/OpenAL, I would think).
Also, there have been zero Linux titles on Gamebryo (despite it being listed as a potential platform for it), so that makes me highly skeptical of Civ V.
That said, Valve did promise AAA's, and it seems that UE3 is among the commercial engines closest to making that possible.

AFAIK Civilization V is not using the Gamebryo engine. It's a custom engine from scratch.
