I wasn't sure if you had had enough of Metro: Last Light yet, so I quickly made a GOL Cast of it to show you the incredible world of post-apocalyptic Moscow. I also decided to shoot some mutants with a shotgun while I was at it, though the situation got pretty hairy.
As you can see, with recording I didn't get all that great framerates, but that wasn't a surprise really. Maybe our benchmarkers can take a better look at it without recording software. (Yes, I am looking at you Sabun and Xpander.)
Overall it seems really awesome and I can't find anything really wrong about the game, except that it still lacks some graphics options that are available on Windows, but the mood, the action and the gorgeus graphics easily make up for that on my end. Really, it's that good. Go get it!

This actually the first metro video I've watched. It's hard to find words that describe how awesome it looks. Must get!

Great video, I was really shocked when I found out it was released! I was expecting it sometime next year haha :D
Your recording is definitely smoother than mine, but it could be because I'm using the 319 drivers which are a bit dated. Guess I should grab the 331 Beta drivers and game on!
I hope more people will post Linux gaming videos, so we can get word of mouth out faster!

Samsai - how did you get the fps counter in the corner? I've tried looking for info on this but have turned up a blank.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Maybe you have something wrong with your recorder or something?

Anyways, having more Linux youtubers is really important and I like to help the newcomers whenever I see them. Luckily Liam has some interesting plans that he will eventually try to implement on GOL that should help the Linux youtubers in general to extend their audience faster.

Thanks.

Quick test how much the recording really kills:

not a lot i would say
~5% drop with recording

Xpander - what's with the right hand view? Is it Windows? The left hand view looks like mine. Apologies for my confusion but what's what here? Thanks.
p.s. very professional vids, nice.
Edit: while I'm at it, where did you get your figure of 59 for "r_base_fov"? My monitor's 16:10, so how would I work out the value necessary? Or is it just trial and error? 59 certainly looks better than the original 50.625 however.

There is a calculator for the FOV. I found out about it from PCGamingWiki which has other usefull tips. Just type in Google PCGW + Title of the game that you are looking for in this case simply Metro.
Here you will find the FOV Calculator it's worth noting that Metro uses vertical field of view rather than more common horizontal. That's why you need this calculator in typical game using horizontal view you would just type 90 to get 90 degrees fov.
