The Wine Development Release 1.7.6 Is Now Available

By -
Two weeks after the last release, Wine developer pushed the new version 1.7.6. Sadly, Direct3D command stream patches still didn't landed in the repository, but other improvements did, including 30 bugfiexs.

The few most interesting features introduced in this release:

  • Rewrite of the BiDi algorithm for full Unicode 6.3 support.
  • Support for Video Mixing Renderer version 7.
  • Better handling of window resizes in the Mac driver.
  • Various bug fixes.

I keep watching for this, hoping it'll come sooner than later.

The CSMT code was tested and "adjusted" during the Crossover 13 beta testing cycle. As it happened with the new Mac driver, changes will trickle down to the Wine code-base.

In the meantime, the PlayOnLinux folks have a version of wine with the CSMT patch that can be used.

I hope I'll be able to play Dungeon Keeper Gold with WINE before this bug turns ten... :S:
