Postal 2 DLC progressing

By -
We reported back in September that a new free Postal 2 DLC was on its way and then a few weeks later provided additional updates. Now developer Running With Scissors has committed to an initial release of the new Postal 2 expansion content on December 13, 2013, but unfortunately Linux, Mac, and DRM free players will still have to wait a little bit longer before receiving the updates.
QuoteIts time for the great news everybody has been holding their breath and thinking about and impatiently waiting for! As per our Greenlight pledge, we promised POSTAL 2 would get new achievements. As a bit of a tease, we let it slip there would be a free DLC coming for POSTAL 2 and then we didn’t really say much more. Well at long last the wait and speculation is over. All that changed yesterday when we officially announced the coming of the promised DLC and Achievements. This DLC patch will be rolling out ready for action beginning Friday the 13th on Steam for the Windows version so prepare yourself for a lot of added fun and gore games. This single player patch fulfills our Greenlight pledge of adding achievements while also adding in some of the most commonly requested features by our community. For those shuddering at the abbreviation DLC worry not as the updates are entirely free to present and future owners of POSTAL 2, as a thank you to our community for making POSTAL 2 on Steam a reality.

Despite the delays, RWS are still committed to making sure no Postal fans remain left out:
QuoteTo our Mac and Linux friends, fear not! The updates will come to these platforms too in time. We apologize for the delay and will inform you when we know when these updates will become available to you. We are still very much committed to Linux and Mac ... The DRM free versions will also get the updates sometime in the new year.

While always unfortunate such delays are far from uncommon, and RWS still deserve praise for all of the support they have given us in the past and continue to give to the Linux community, a commitment they have maintained to the best of their ability despite significant hardships in recent years.

December, Friday the 13th was a lucky day for POSTAL fans across the world when RWS released the 1412 patch of awesomeness to update our ten year old flagship game, totally for free!

Well, as you guys liked it so much we thought what the hell, have some more! Also totally for free. RWS is the development house that just keeps giving. Now with 95% less bugs than 1412 patch thanks to our expanded and dedicated team of QA testers from the http://facepunch.com/ forms. Thanks guys!

Now the bulk of the games features have been updated, our next priority is to get all these things to Linux and Mac on Steam, and also to the DRM free platforms such as GoG.com.

Running with Scissors AMA on reddit:
There is something big coming regarding P2 but that's the only hint for now, we are just getting started on something while wrapping up the Linux and Mac updates, and workshop implementation.

After I joined RWS I carried on updating Eternal Damnation for a while after in my spare time, it never quite got finished but once workshop hits I'll be finishing that up and getting it onto workshop at some point. It was really quite progressed from the original release.

They also now have a Postal 2 Humble Widget, although for the moment at least it is just another Steam storefront:

Steam Workshop integration is done, meaning they can move on to their other outstanding points:
First we'll tidy up the Steam release for DRM free (which is a little bit of work, we want to make it so the Steam workshop mods also work with the DRM free build if manually installed, using the same menu system). Then we'll pass both builds off to Ryan to do his magic.
