This really is a fantastic bundle, I have been waiting on Reus for some time after they confirmed a Linux version was coming.

For some reason none of these tickle my fancy to any great degree; not a slight against the games themselves, but unless someone can clarify one to me to the point of building an interest I might just skip over this one, unless some of the later games added look more appealing to my own particular taste.

In general I have been skipping more and more Humble Bundle promotions lately, since I no longer feel obligated to support them for ideological reasons and because if I do eventually decide I want one of the games featured I have a far greater chance of being able to pick it up after the fact than I used to thanks to the Humble Widget and Humble Store.

Don't let me spoil your fun though.

ffs Hamish, Donate all the money to the EFF!!! Why you must be constantly bitching about every single the Humble bundle that comes out?! humble Bundle is still the best thing there is out there. you really dissapoint me. I mean, does anyone buy Humble bundles because of the actual games? not me anyway. :)

Actually, thinking about it more... all games are boring crap to me. I only buy them and read the things around gaming, probably because of nostalgy and because of the great  potential to expand human awareness that games as such have... That I believe will be seen in the future. Nevertheless, i consider 99% games are boring crap. The other 1% I consider boring after few hours anyway. Even the new indie games, even though I'm a big fan of indie games, honestly they suck balls. One worse than the other. The games are horrible, just look at Steam greenlight - who wants to play such (indie) games? Not even mentioning FPS's like "modern warfare" etc...

But Humble Bundle is still great because of the ideology. Hamish, what else do you want? show me ANYTHING better out there (ideologically) than Humble Bundle!

I pretty much buy games just to see the linux platform grow and because I thought that by switching to linux years ago that I would never play games again and now Im suprised by the amount we have. According to a video about steam machines I saw yesterday, Gabe was saying that by the time steam machines go on sale there will be over 400 linux games on steam. Pretty exciting whether or not you actually play them.

ffs Hamish, Donate all the money to the EFF!!

I would rather spend my money on a new pair of glasses. That I need. No offence to the EFF, but I do not have deep enough pockets to buy a bunch of games that I probably will not play just to give them a paltry few bucks.

If you are going to try and moralize me because of that, I simply have to ask why you need the pretext of a bundle to justify your own donation in the first place? Why not give them money all the time? Do I have the right to judge you because you don't?

Why you must be constantly bitching about every single the Humble bundle that comes out?! humble Bundle is still the best thing there is out there.

I think you will find that I did not even comment on the last bundle. I did on this one because people were exited about it, and I wanted someone to try and explain to me why they were to see if it would change my own personal opinion about whether it was worth my investment or not.

I also wanted to point out that each individual promotion has gotten less and less important due to greater general availability of these games on the Humble Store and through the Humble Widget - something I clearly pointed out as being a good thing.

you really dissapoint me. I mean, does anyone buy Humble bundles because of the actual games? not me anyway. :)

I disappoint you because I actually want to buy games I want to play? Because I still appreciate gaming as something other than a cash sink?

Now that is just plain inflammatory.

But Humble Bundle is still great because of the ideology. Hamish, what else do you want? show me ANYTHING better out there (ideologically) than Humble Bundle!

I used to be more willing to buy games from Humble that I was not interested in because I believed that they were trying to make a difference - but when they narrowed their scope, I narrowed mine, to the point that I now only buy them to receive games I want to play.

When they play the pragmatism card, as they have for the past year, I am free to follow suit with a play of my own.

I pretty much buy games just to see the linux platform grow and because I thought that by switching to linux years ago that I would never play games again and now Im suprised by the amount we have.

That is nice, but not everyone has that much to spend. I do need to receive some value to justify my input.

Honestly, to carry on this tract would be to say that none of you have ever spent money on a Linux game worth playing, which really would be giving all our developer friends a huge disservice.

Wasn't trying to say you should buy anything. Was more directing it to the other guy. Either way I do enjoy a lot of the games and many of them I thought were going to be bad but ended up being in my favorite games list, like Hotline Miami. When theres a game I don't want I give it to a friend with poor health that cant afford games. He is happy when he cant get out of bed but can be entertained with a new game.

Fair enough, and I did know that was not exactly directed at me. The last part of my post was also meant as a more general comment.

If you're using an NVIDIA card and a recent driver, it could be because of this: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/633706/linux/recent-drivers-cause-applications-to-hang-not-start-at-all-or-compilation-failures

Try installing the terminal program called "terminator" and run Steam from there, and then launch the game. For some unknown reason, this often works. Hopefully the new drivers will come out soon... I downgraded to 304.x and haven't had issues since.

I agree. Not interested. Haven't bought a bundle in ages...used to buy them left and right for no apparent reason.

And stop heckling the man (Hamish) just because you don't agree. He's not forcing anything on you. Also to the "donate to EFF" comment, some people already support a number of charities/distributions/projects/GoL ;) to the point where donating to EFF doesn't make financial sense or serve a legitimate interest (most people don't know/care what EFF does).

I thought it was my system... so many games work now... MetroLL and SirYABH to name a few.

You are the last person I expected to come to my defence n30p1r4t3. :P

At any rate, let us not let the drama bog down this thread too much.

+1, this is a site about the goodness of Linux gaming. Not bashing someone's beliefs. There's plenty of that going on in the world today, so lets trying and keep GoL out of it. I'm sorry about the past, Hamish.

Personally Reus, Bit Trip Runner 2 and Papo and Yo are why I wanted this bundle. I hear papo and yo is a lot better than the video makes it out to be. Whats funny though is that when I tried to redeem the key somehow I already had papo and yo but I dont remember how I got it.
philip550c Jan 8, 2014
- Reus: unfortunately the game is very choppy. Not choppy as in « your GPU is too slow » but more like « the garbage collector is pausing the game every second »… not sure. It seems like an interesting and pretty game but it was not a joy to play (it often missed my mouse clicks), and the tutorial is a bit hard to follow.
On the steam forums the dev made a post explaining that the linux and mac port has a bug that causes constant stuttering and that they are working on it and it should be fixed shortly, at which time they will also upload the ports to steam.
