ETS 2 up to this day can't play mp3 files and various radio streams on linux due to the so-called 'copyright issues' :/
More like a laziness issue imho

you are worried about ETS2 that cant play mp3 files?
you have operating system that can play those streams outside of the game.. why is that a problem to play a game and listen music at the same time?
just my thoughts on that.
they can focus on more content instead of trying to figure out the copyright stuff because anyone can play their favorite radio streams outside the game anyway
my 2 cents

It is just a personal thing. I'd like to have it ingame so I would not need to worry about two things running. It supposedly switches to ingame music when you open up the menu and you can't have it on linux.
Yes, you are right about content. I tried the promods mod btw and it is great to have a lot more countries but it has some sort of texture rendering issues on my machine. A general linux problem perhaps?
The whole point is to have linux treated equally and not as some sort of a bastard child. We all pay for the game just the same.

What is more important about ETS2 is that vertical sync doesn't work in Linux.

ETS2 music works just fine here. In rest, it's completely broken, I get a frame every few seconds, even though my specs are up to par.

I agree with Xpander here, getting music to work isn´t that important here. But you got a point though that Linux users should be able to use the same functions as Windows or Mac users. Did you know that you can disable the in-game music in options? I did and I use Spotify in the background, works great. Except that I got the same problems as M.C., fps drops in between. But it´s the same in Windows too.
Btw the promods scandinavian mod is quite better then the original map. The Going east part is better though, but not as good as promods. I also got the texture problem when running it on Linux though, I think the problem is that it´s only tested and supported on directX.
