Chucks Challenge 3D is a brand new (to Steam) puzzle game from Niffler Ltd. and published by a brand new indie-focused publisher called Nkidu.

This is the first title Nkidu has published as well, so I hope it goes well for them as they seem like a pretty decent publisher to get behind.

I had a chance to grab a review key and play-test it and video it running under Linux for you.

Performance was it's a solid Linux version, I couldn't find many issues at all so it's another fantastic addition.

The graphics are nice and vibrant making it a pleasure to look at, don't be fooled though by how simple it looks, it will get frustrating in later levels.

I enjoyed my time playing with it, and I expect I will pick it up again and again not to fail so stupidly on certain levels and get those gold medals!

I imagine this would be a fantastic game for a younger audience.

I also spoke to Tom Ohle from their publisher Nkidu to ask a few burning questions:

Why did you decide to create your own publisher?

QuoteWe ultimately saw a great opportunity to help indie devs. Most people who get into game development do so to make games... they don't want to spend all their time working with platform holders or marketing partners or sending out pitches to media. Or even if they do want to do those things, they might not fully understand how time-consuming it can all be. We also felt that a lot of developers could benefit from having some assistance from people who've been through it all themselves -- people who have shipped games at a high level.

We're here to help developers where they need help, so they can focus on just making the games.

What makes you different to a publisher like say Devolver Digital? Who also fight for indie's support.

QuoteI think we're filling a similar role as other indie-focused publishers. Because we're building this company from the ground up, we don't have the funds that some of the others have available to back projects financially... but at the end of the day everyone wants to help indie devs get exposure and to make their games as successful as possible. We have a ton of respect for Devolver and the other teams in the space, and hope we can all co-exist peacefully for a long, long time.

Is Linux important to you as a publisher?

QuoteTotally. Beyond SteamOS and such, it's always been my view that -- as long as it's not a massive undertaking -- you want to bring your game to as many players as possible. By restricting yourself to any platform, you're cutting out a certain number of players who will never get to experience your game.

This is not new to Linux, only to Steam:

Well now, bit annoying when publishers claim it is new *sigh*

I have adjusted the title to better fit now.
