With some lovely anime/manga style graphics and plenty of text to read Fading Hearts has written itself onto Steam, thanks to being greenlit by the community for you story game fans. You can get it DRM free from them directly as well.

About
An interactive story/game where you play the role of Ryou, a seemingly normal high school student in the land of Sorayama. Solve the mysteries that surround him while maintaining his friendships and saving Claire. Remain ignorant of the secrets and live a normal life or choose to learn the truth. Be careful where you put your priorities for it may prove fatal.

Multiple end-game climaxes and endings!
What will be the final conflict?
Take control of your story or be swept away by it unlike ever before!
True choices! (Defined as choosing your own goal!)

I don't quite get what people see in these types of games? Is it like reading a manga novel only with you changing little bits of the story as you go on?

It is not too much if all what they are promising is true. And by all I mean this:

It is cheapest Visual Novel I ever bought. Check Mangagamer or similar sites for how much those games costs usually.
