Sad news guys, Nuclear Dawn will most likely never exit beta for Linux due to the developer no longer existing.
According to this forum post InterWave stopped being a business in December 2013, the post also confirms from another email that no one is working on it any more.
It seems the rights to Nuclear Dawn where passed onto GameConnect who don't have anyone to work on it.
So, save your wallets and don't go buying Nuclear Dawn right now.
Sadly these things happen, game developing is a volatile thing and companies can go under at any time.

That's unfortunate, this game has potential.

The situation is a bit strange: I wrote a comment in the article about Dark Matter (http://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/dark-matter-25d-survival-horror-now-on-steam-for-linux.2593) in october to enquire about the Nuclear Dawn status, as Interwave was apparently closed since august last year. Yet, developement of ND seemed to continue, as the Linux beta began a few weeks after that. So I'm not sure: was the studio still active while the head company was already closed? Did the developers continue to work on ND on their own after the studio was shut down?

Well I did fork out some money for that game, disappointed that I only managed to join a server once.
The UI was ok, the concept was good, and it was really pretty.
Oh well I suppose some of these "investments" do not pan out.

Quoting: Xpanderi dont regret buyig it... managed to have 4-5 hours of fun at least with it.The main reason it lacked people was that it was that there was no cross-platform multiplayer. Unless there were a few linux beta testers online, you had the whole server to yourself. And the bots were not very smart.

I really hope someone will pick up the port and continue its development...

Aaah finally I understand why I could see that there were 2 or 3 servers open, but I could not join them...
It is a shame as Nuclear Dawn was a good alternative to Natural Selection and Tremulous.
I also do hope that someone will try to get this game on track again.

maybe they should make it free to play (like LoL, dota, strife, etc.), since these games need people and many will overlook it.
and they were probably working on the linux version in order to include it in bundles and stuff.
