Planet Explorers the epic looking open world voxel based sandbox game is heading to Steam Early Access towards the end of this month.

They have stated this will mean they have more money coming in as their reserves are running low due to only selling via their own website right now (not enough exposure).
They also stated they will be releasing builds more frequently than they have been, which is good news.

I do hope they work on improving performance as for me it ran quite slow until I turned the settings down quite a lot, other than that it seemed like it will be a pretty decent game to play through.

You can download the alpha free right now on their website here to make sure it runs before you pre-order.

Looks a little like Firefall from what I'm looking at. Always wanted that for Linux. I'll have to look into it.

hmm it was 1.8GB download for me only.
anyway that size isnt any noteworthy for todays games.
everything below 5GB is considered as small imo.

game is cool, and the universe it beautiful. camera controls and fighting controls are quirky at best... the "harvesting" of plants and trees is also a bit awkward.... some other minor quirks aswell, but if they get them sorted this will be a bloody excellent game.

edit:: also i needed to do change locale in terminal else it would not find prefabs for some reason.
