Planetary Annihilation Major New Update With Video

By -
Planetary Annihilation the massive scale RTS game has another major update, it now includes their own version of a minimap.

It is essentially the game running again in another small window that you can zoom in and out on, it's very useful and very cool.

My Video, watch me go out in a blaze of glory!

In my testing I am not surprised they require 64bit as the game hit just under 4GB while playing and this was only against a single AI with two planets in total, if you are planning to pick it up I think 8GB RAM at a minimum would be wise.

Changelog
  • Picture in Picture! Off by default, you can turn it on by clicking the new icon right next to the chronocam icon in the lower right corner. Keep in mind this does impact performance (You're rendering two views of the game!), but it is AWESOME. Shift-V allows you to quickly alternate between the main and PIP view.
  • GPU rendering of particle effects. Across the board, this should improve client performance for everyone! It's not a "one size fix all" change, but it should be another change down the "making things better for everyone" path
  • Unit updates to include more team color
  • Even more AI improvements - Cue evil laugh
  • A number of pathing and patrol related bug fixes
  • Orbital units entering a new celstial body should now be oriented correctly
  • Balance/Unit Changes: Gunships should have an easier time hitting targets, transports have been moved to the advanced factory for now, and a few other changes.
  • We are now able to start rolling out the new launcher in a limited fashion. We hope to start this on Friday, February 21st. For now, the launcher is limited to Windows and Mac. Please keep an eye on our forums in the beta section for more details.

Anyone who has played Total Annihilation or Supreme Commander in the past will feel right at home with Planetary Annihilation, so please we have it on Linux.

I think that that game isn't worth 41$.. Not saying that its bad game, just that it isn't worth 41$.

Well I disagree, I think it is well worth it, it has decent graphics and game-play you won't find in any other RTS.

I Kickstarted this game, after reading their page, and the reputation of the designers and programmers. I do agree that the initial Steam price was $60, since the game is still (obviously) beta. If you like your RTSes fast and frantic, this is THE game for you, and a steal at its current price. It's got a pretty vicious AI, too:><:.
