By -
Well now, this was a nice surprise, it looks like Portal 2 is extremely close to dropping onto Linux.

Update: You need to manually opt-into the beta according to Valve. Find it in the beta tab on the properties section of Portal 2.

Quoting: s_dWut.

Does this mean (effectively) all Linux folks get P2 for free?! At least beta quality?

Downloading.

Confused...
I assumed that it was in my library because I had already bought it.

Pretty sure I only bought Portal 1. Maybe I'm losing my mind

Now that would be too good to be true.

Bought this so long ago I can't remember! My Win partition's been gone a good while but was waiting on the native version anyway.

Download speed's not the best today but I've waited this long... :D

Hey guys, Portal 2 has that Puzzlemaker thing ... this means it must include native BSP compile tools for Linux... Woohoo?

right now I'm just getting this, despite the file being there

xseba360@ubuntu:~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Portal 2/bin$ ./vbsp_linux
./vbsp_linux: error while loading shared libraries: libtcmalloc_minimal.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Never mind. I got it working by setting $LD_LIBRARY_PATH and starting using ./vbsp_linux -game ../portal2 :)

Nah. I had The Orange Box on Steam already, but Portal 2 on XBox. No sign of it here. :( Still, it's cool that it's finally coming to Linux. Not that I ever doubted it would.

Imagine the film the Matrix, I am plugged into it.

matrix 1 was great, if you were plugged into the 2nd or 3rd film, i would be really worried,

i love valve, has there ever been an attempt to put the portal gun in team fortress or in half-life? it just seems too limiting to have the portal gun for only puzzles but no action.
