Warsow is a fast paced first person shooter with some pretty stylish cartoon graphics, they have just released a brand new beta with big changes.

Truth be told, I haven't played it in a very long time due to not being much of a fan of super fast FPS with unrealistic weapons, but this is one of the best ones around.

Changes
FXAA antialiasing.
Revamped wdm2 map visuals.
Updated input code to use XInput2 for Linux.
Transparent items in warmup.
Knockback code rewritten for smoother knockbacks.
5 new songs in the soundtrack.
Added RGB shadowmaps.

Quoting: L4LinuxI would really like the "Arena games" to have an option for a slower, more realistic (as realistic an arena shooter could get anyway...) gameplay. I never liked this bunny-hoping at all.
That is my issue with it, it's too much for me with people bouncing here there and everywhere.
Is this comment a joke?
If you want a slower realistic paced game, then you play one. Saying a game that revolves around fast paced classic FPS action should have mechanics that slow it down to be more like modern FPS games is absolutely silly and contradicts the point.

Having an OPTION is never silly.

Yes it is when the option you're suggesting is mentally retarded. If you honestly think a fast paced FPS action based game should have the option to make it slow as balls with boring combat then go right ahead and mod it. I'm sure it will be loved by all.

Are you guys autistic? An arena shooter is meant to be fast-paced and removing that would just turn it into a Sunday drive of boredom. If you really want an "Option" for it to not be fast-paced and actually _fun_, host your own damn server and be sure to hold down the walk key and never crouch-jump. Have a boring time.

No one is saying this should have mechanics to slow it down, are they?

Well L4Linux was saying it right in the first comment, it is even in your quote :P

Quoting: liamdaweI simply don't like fast bunny hopping games like this which is why I do stick to slower games.

Well but that is exactly what I want in FPS games. UT, Quake, hl2dm,... there is no new AAA game like that, only retarded war slow motion games like CoD, Battlefiled,... So if L4Linux doesnt like the fast paced action that is fine with me, he can just pick one of the 1000 other games without bunny hopping ;)

Also I have to admit the others might sound a bit harsh, but they are kind of right.

I realise lots of children play games but can you not call people mentally retarded and autistic as it's pathetic and offensive.

I understand that sometimes it's very difficult when you find people that disagree with your opinions on the internet, but if "mentally retarded" and "autistic" are adjectives that you frequently use to describe people that think differently than you I suggest you use 4chan to interact with people instead of our comment section.

Maybe I shouldn't have used autistic because it can be deemed offensive and I'm sorry for that, but the point still stands. The game is geared towards fast paced and adrenaline pumping gameplay, slowing it down would literally just turn it into a walk in the park. They don't HAVE to add the option to slow it down simply because it isn't geared towards slow FPS players; asking for them to add that option IS silly and would just be stupid.

I understand your point and I don't really disagree with you. I just want to keep the comment section clean from offensive stuff for the community's sake. Without moderation the place could end up becoming a huge troll infested hole of hatred and that wouldn't be fun for either the readers or the article writers.

You mean Phoronix? ;)

With regards to the main discussion, I think Yahtzee's words have some relevance here:

By the way, you can change the warsow gamespeed by adding the following commands to your .cfg
or typing them in the console
sv_cheats 1 // cheat enabled
// you have to restart the map afterwards if you use the console
timescale 0.8 // A reasonable range would be 0.5 - 1.75
