About
Black Ice is a cyberpunk first person shooter (FPS) with strong RPG elements. Think Borderlands meets Tron. Jack into cyberspace and make hacking runs on megacorp servers, but watch out for the dangerous Black Ice defending them!
The game is built in Unity, so for me sadly it has that annoying mouse issue where your camera points towards the roof instantly. It is possible to fix it though, if you go to:
/home/username/.config/unity3d/SuperDuperGameCompany/Black Ice/prefs
Edit that file to have your correct resolution and turn full screen to 0. This seems to work for all Unity games.
One other issues for me is that no text appears, I've reported them both to the developer. Let's see if that bug promise below works out!
Current Features
- Fast-paced first person combat
- Billions of randomly generated items
- Railguns! Rocket shotguns! Jetpacks!
- Seamless online multiplayer
- A beautiful, procedurally-generated neon world
- Extremely open development
- A wonderful original soundtrack by experienced composer V-Axys
- Award-winning, addictive gameplay with high replay value
- Photosensitive Mode
- Automatic update detection
Future Promises
- Free updates forever
- Continuous updates
- Zero microtransactions. This game will only ever cost you money once
- Zero DRM
- No copyright takedowns on Let's Play videos
- If the game is greenlit, a Steam key will be provided for each copy you purchase
- If you report a bug, they will fix it as soon as they can.
You can buy it on Itch.io right now for $5 to help development. You can also grab the demo there!
You can give them a vote on Steam's greenlight here, it's free, so if you like it why not!

for some reason when I play the demo none of the text shows up, but everything else works fine. Does anyone know a fix for this

I tried the demo and had no issues with text or the camera, so either the issue's fixed or I'm unaffected.
It's pretty neat, I'll probably purchase once it comes out.

I checked itch.io recently and got overwhelmed for the odd stuff available for Linux. There has to be some hidden gems there.

I would rather see a LGPL2 Project to reverse-engineer Deus Ex.

Hi guys, I'm glad you figured out a workaround for the mouse issue!
I replied to you about this on Twitter, but the missing text issue is caused by missing Microsoft fonts. Once you install them it should work normally :)
I would tell you exactly how to install the fonts, but I don't actually have a linux box to test it out on.

It would help if you used a font that you can redistribute, and provided it with your game.
That would be great, as I haven't found a package on Manjaro that works to install the fonts yet so sadly I cannot play it :(

I will be updating the UI soonish, which should include a new rendered font, which would eliminate this dependency, I believe. I'm sorry about this issue, but it's really a Unity problem.
