Meltdown is a tactical arcade shooter featuring both singleplayer and intense online multiplayer. Become the most skilled soldier, choose your weapons, get the best upgrades, buckle up and start your mission. Be careful, each enemy has its own combat style, special AI and gear. Adapt to them to survive! Thankfully the publisher has confirmed a Linux version will come.
On the Steam forum the publisher noted this:
Source - Emphasis mine, to point it out.
Meltdown is now in early access on Steam, so we will probably be waiting a little while, but it is great to see that their publisher is keen to note Linux is on the developers minds.

Meltdown is a tactical arcade shooter featuring both singleplayer and intense online multiplayer.
Set against a captivating sci-fi backdrop, the action game invites players to follow its main character, Zed, as he tries to shoot his way out of the remote space station that he has been trapped on as a result of a system malfunction.
During the course of the adventure, players can collect loot and level-up their character as they make their way through randomly generated levels. They can choose to play single player or co-op multiplayer, while experiencing an engaging gameplay, matching their gaming skills and style.
Clear all the missions and run the prestige mode!
It's really good to see more and more games developers and publishers look at Linux, it's just sad that we still a good 90% of the time end up waiting. I hope SteamOS pushes developers a little more.
Final note: I find it odd that this is tagged as indie when they have a publisher.

QuoteSo let's answer! First, you're right, Meltdown is already available on Android and iOS.
This Steam version is Steam Play compatible, so you got PC and Mac in the mean time. Linux version will come later.

Quoting: liamdaweI know, I just got irritated by the fact that they treat linux as a "3rd world citizen". I'm currently making my own game and porting the game from my Ubuntu system to Windows took me like 50 minutes (recompiled libs, fixed a few missing functions).Quoting: gamerThen don't buy until it is out, it's very simple.QuoteLinux version will come later. It's a trick to milk money from us, Linux gamers, and then say "sorry we didn't had time or enough interest".
PS. For Unity engine it's a matter of one click (and in some _rare_ cases change some code) to get game working on Linux.

I've had a chance to play Meltdown; it's pretty darn fun. I hope they hurry the hell up with the Linux port. Personally, I'd be playing a standalone version, but it has a great console feel to it, and would be super on a Steam Machine with a controller, for those so inclined.
