Moebius: Empire Rising from Jane Jensen will not see a Linux release when it has the official release this April, despite hitting well over the Linux funding goal on Kickstarter nearly two years ago.
This game is exciting as it's from the original designer of the Gabriel Knight adventure games.
It's increasingly sad to see Linux gamers who paid money to support developers getting told to just wait:

It's especially sad considering it's only around a month away from being two years since they had the funding. Their goal was for $300K and with a Linux goal at $400K. They where over funded by over $35K, so it still astonishes me that after being so over-funded and having this much time to do it, they still haven't been able to produce a Linux version.
About
Moebius: Empire Rising is a contemporary adventure that merges classic point-and-click puzzle solving with Jane Jensen’s sophisticated storytelling. Travel the world using Malachi’s unique deductive powers to analyse suspects, make historical connections, and uncover the truth behind a theory of space and time the government will defend at any cost.
I say this again and again, unless a developer states a Linux version exists, just don't buy or support it.
The problem is though, unless we do jump through hoops like this, we probably won't get as many games, so it's like a rock and a hard place type of situation.

QuoteHi there,
Moebius will eventually be ported to Linux, but it won't be quite ready in time for launch. For launch the platforms available will be PC and Mac.

They've been saying this about Cognition, too. And the forthcoming Gabriel Knight game. I am... decidedly sceptical about this.

It's sad that we get treated like a second class citizen still.

Also very annoying that we have to run after the developers to actually tell us what happens, at least us non-backers. Apparently, the information was inside a backer update, but why make that a backer-exclusive information and not tell anyone else? :/

I do wish people would stop saying ~PC~ when they actually mean ~Windows~.
Hey devs, I'm using a ~PC~, it just has ~Linux~ on it.

I'm a backer of this game.
The official communication on this was in a mail from them on 20th February :
<<
When with the CSG get the PC and Mac builds? What about Linux?
The English PC/Mac builds will go out to the CSG just before the official launch – like probably the day before or a few days before. The Linux build will follow probably 1-3 months later, once we have upgraded the Unity engine to a version that supports Linux and can test it properly. We’ll let you know the dates for the foreign language editions as soon as we have them.

Well, maybe is time to stop support liers on kickstarter and keep supporting games already launched with native linux builds.

It's a shame, but developers like these (and many others) are killing Crowd Funding for Linux supporters. There's just no point in supporting a multi-platform Kickstarter if you're Linux only.
Very frustrating. I think it's time to change tact. Don't ask for "Linux support", ask specifically for "simultaneous launch".
Sad.

They made 35k over what they asked for, and they didn't bother to upgrade their Unity version. When knowingly that their version didn't support Linux, and they made it a stretch goal....
