Paper Dungeons is a brand new mix of tactics and roguelike dungeon crawling all in one neat little package.

Watch me fail, a lot!

My Thoughts
First thing to note is that the build seems solid, I couldn't find any Linux specific bugs and performance was perfection.

It is extremely confusing when you first start off, but don't let that put you off it's actually quite a fun game and have found myself going back to it for "just one more game".

The graphics and sound effects are both nice and play the part well for Paper Dungeons.

What confused me is the dice system, it isn't actually explained at the start and you need to go looking into the dice section for yourself to learn what all the icons mean when the dice are rolling. Once you get passed that, it's smooth sailing-ish.

Prepare to die a lot as I did! The game is unforgiving, you only have the one life to beat each dungeon with and you start from level 1 on each dungeon. A lot of it feels like luck, as you could start off like I did completely surrounded a few times.

For £8.99 it's not the cheapest of indie games, but it is good fun and the built-in editor and ability to share/download levels from the net will keep it fresh for a long time.

Looks good. I played a lot of Dungelot on Android, and this is very nearly the exact same game with some stylistic differences. In Dungelot, for example, you don't level up as you play, but instead use the gold from one run to power up your next attempt (much like Rogue Legacy actually).

I'm a sucker for these types of RPG-lite games, so I think I might have to fire up the old Desura client for the first time in a long time!

This reminds me a lot of Desktop Dungeons.
