I had to keep quiet about this one as well, but it seems the cat is out of the bag now. Sanctum 2 the awesome looking FPS & Tower Defence hybrid will come to Linux.
This is from the same guys that confirmed Goat Simulator to me and it is also being ported by Ryan "Icculus" Gordon.
The funny thing is that this is the same deal as it is with Goat Simulator, Ryan hasn't been answering many emails from the developers, so they have no idea when the port will arrive:
Again, out of respect for the developer I didn't say anything until more information came in, and now that Icculus has stated it publicly on his twitter there is no need to keep it under wraps.
According to the SteamDB entry for it, Sanctum 2 is currently in some form of private beta with a password, so don't download it yet unless you somehow get into the beta.
You can also see confirmation on their official Facebook page:
About Sanctum 2
Sanctum 2 is the sequel to the world’s first Tower Defense/FPS hybrid game. Pick from four unique character classes and embark on a mission to protect the oxygen-producing Cores from hordes of deadly aliens who are threatened by their existence. Outfit your character exactly the way you want through the new and extensive customization system. Choose your own loadout of towers, weapons and perks, but choose wisely because you are humanity’s last defense against the unrelenting hordes set out to destroy it.
Sanctum 2 is a new game completely rebuilt from the ground up using community feedback and innovative design to really push the bar of what an independent studio can do.

QuoteYes, Ryan Gordon is porting our games to Linux and Mac right now, but he very rarely answers his e-mails so we have no idea when he will be done, or if he will even finish at all, so we can't go out with any information on that as we have no information ourselves.

We are currently working on a port of Sanctum 2 to Mac and Linux! We don't have a date for when it's going to be done, but we'll keep you updated!

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Quoting: GuestI don't think Sanctum 1 will get a port, I think Ryan was just working on porting 2. Besides if they were releasing both, you'd think they'd port 1 first before 2, so if you have both in your Steam inventory but only 2 is showing up on Linux, I'd lose hope that 1 is ever coming.I hope that logic doesn't apply to The Witcher as well. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is allegedly making its way to Linux, and chances of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt coming to Linux are increasing as well, but what about The Witcher? Left 4 Dead bugs me as well with Left 4 Dead 2 already being on Linux.

Quoting: GuestI'll just give my money to those who bother, like Frozenbyte with Trine.Quoting: FutureSutureYeah, of course any situation where the earlier games were popular in their own ways and have their own merits so there are gamers wanting them, they should consider them. Fact is though if a newer game is an improvement in most areas over an older one so that there is a lot more demand for it than the older one, chances are much lower for seeing a port since at that point you're talking about a percentage of a percentage. Since Linux now has enough demand to put it over the threshold for seeing some good ports, that first hump has been crossed, but good luck getting over those extra humps...Quoting: GuestI don't think Sanctum 1 will get a port, I think Ryan was just working on porting 2. That having been said, the future will be much different, since now with most big game engines being multi-platform from the start and Linux just being another click of a button, these porting problems will go away and you'll see much easier Linux releasing, no more humps to deal with for the most part.
Except for me and the penguin. God I love Linux. >:3
