See Valve's Vogl OpenGL Debugger In Action

By -
Valve's Rich Geldreich has continued his awesome blog post about his work on the Vogl OpenGL debugger and has now posted some actual shots of it in action. The UI work is being done by Peter Lohrmann.

He used it to debug a reported bug in Xonotic, this is interesting as for some reason it didn't even cross my mind that open-source games could also benefit from using Vogl.

You may notice, these shots are actually on Linux too under KDE!

Once Vogl works across both Windows and Linux I hope we will see OpenGL performance improve across the land.

You all have seen Valve's excellent OpenGL presentation at steam dev days, right?
The VoGL segment starts here.

Of course. Just because you have the source doesn't mean you can immediately see things like memory consumption and in which sequence OpenGL calls are made. As such, vogl is kinda like valgrind for OpenGL.

So, in this moment the source engine is still using direct3d even under linux, but using this patch for opengl compatibility?
