Do you remember Voxatron? You don't? Well Voxatron is currently in alpha and it was part of a Humble Bundle named "The Humble Voxatron Debut!". Much has changed since then.
Previously Voxatron was just a little colourful Voxel game where you progressed to different areas blowing up little Voxel based enemies. It still is that, but they are also aiming to turn it into a "fantasy console".
This does sound extremely interesting and it's nice to see developers experiment like this.
What do you think guys? I honestly haven't played it since the bundle, I almost forgot about it!
You can grab it now from them directly for $15 and get it DRM free.

QuoteFirst things first: What is a fantasy console? Well, it's just like a real game console -- it has a particular display format, design tools and culture, and surrounding community that all give games made for it a certain look and feel. The only difference is that the console is not real, and instead sits on top of less existence-challenged platforms. Voxatron uses a virtual 8-bit cuboidal display made of 128x128x64 voxels and offers matching tools for developers who want to make cartridges for it. It might exist for reals one day, but we don't need that to have a good time!
Voxatron 0.2.10 includes many new tools for creating cartridges: custom players and pickups, .xm music importing, microscripting, and fancy doors with a flexible world persistence system. Over the next month I'll be focusing on supporting designers using the new features, as well as adding a web player and social features in preparation for v0.3. So be sure to check back to the BBS levels (PLAY > BBS CARTS from inside the game) to see what we come up with!

This game looks soooooo good.
I supported it several years ago (Humble Voxatron Bundle).
Think it will take some more years until it finally hit the shelves. :D
(Yes, I know it's already playable and has some community stuff)
