Contested Space is one of the more interesting titles to appear recently, I've played around with it and it's actually pretty fun, especially fun is designing your own ships. I tried to write my name out as a ship, but that failed rather a lot hah.

I have played around with it for a while behind the scenes while chatting with the developer and it's shaping up really, really well. There aren't many, if any MMO games out there that let you design your entire ships shape like this does.

About
Contested Space mixes action oriented ship combat with creativity and community. Players design their own ships and stations, while defending and expanding territory for their alliance. All of this happens in one persistent universe where every action has a lasting consequence. The game will be available on PC, Mac, and Linux.

The game will be $5 a month when it launches as it's a subscription based MMO, very different to the likes of Star Citizen though (it won't need a power-house PC to run for starters).

The good news is that the game is trending currently to hit well-over the initial goal which is pleasing to see, the developer is really Linux friendly and considering the Linux version already exists it's a very safe bet. Unlike masses of other Kickstarters.

This flood of sandbox games is understandable, yet disappointing. :/
Oh well, I'm repeating myself...

Pretty cool. I like designing things that have practical uses, rather than just aesthetics
