FarSky has really caught my interest, an underwater game of survival and adventure where you come up against all kinds of nasties while you hunt for resources and try to fix your submarine. Sounds really fun, it certainly looks good which helps.

About
With FarSky, you take the role of Nathan who got lost in the Ocean after the crash of his submarine. You need to learn how to survive in the depths of the Ocean.

Use the environment to gather resources, build a base to refill your oxygen and manage all your items, craft equipment and weapons to explore and protect yourself in the Ocean depths, create an in-base farm or go fish hunting to feed yourself,...

Your ultimate goal is to find all the pieces of your submarine, fix it and reach the surface. You can also choose to play in Sandbox mode to enjoy the game freely with a wider map!

All maps are randomly generated to immerse you in an unknown world.

You can grab it DRM free directly which includes a Steam key or on Steam.

Pretty good -- completed it in about 5 hours though. Needs a bit more on the late game and the map in adventure / survivor needs to be bigger (IMO). Multiplayer would be nice too.

Still, same run time as a COD (post COD4) campaign and a fraction of the cost.

Hi there,

I am a bit late here but since my question over at the Farsky website stayed unanswered I will repost here in hope to get some feedback. Unfortunately I am not shure how FarSky will run on my Linux box. I have an AMD E350 (2x1.6GHz) with 8GB RAM and a GeForce 9500GT running the latest NVidia blob.

From the system specs below it is hard to tell if FarSky will give me a reasonable performance:
Linux
- OS: Ubuntu 12.04
- Memory: 2 GB RAM
- Graphics: OpenGL 2.0
- Processor: 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
- Hard Drive: 300 MB available space

Especially since FarSky seems to be a native Java app. I have run into several games with bad performance / optimisation lately like Paranautical Activities or Sir you are being hunted which both look graphically limited but require a beefy system. I do not want to run into similar issues again.
Call me pedantic but it is hard to accept for me that such games need my AMD Quadcore with 3GHz and a GeForce 450GT to run fluently.

TIA
Holger
