Rimworld is the really fun sci fi colony simulator built in the style of Prison Architect. I've tested out Alpha 3 and wow, it's really something.

I took a video and failed miserably, I think next time I will be starting off slower and with an AI story-teller that isn't so punishing. It dropped some armed people onto my planet with a few minutes, damn!

The greatest thing about Rimworld is that you can play at pretty much any pace you want. Play it is a pure colony building sim or like me play it where lots of random things happen, like getting everyone killed..oops.
The AI story-teller is such a brilliant system and quite impressive, since it will enable many different styles of play in the same game.

The combat is a little rough right now, but I am sure that will be tweaked. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to tell my colonists who to attack, or to just leave them to it.

The game has raised over $700 thousand on its own website, so it's doing really well and should keep going for some-time. It's not cheap though, $30 for an alpha-build right now, but at least they aren't charging extra for early builds.

I think it will be a fantastic game and I will keep you updated with videos on how many ways I can get my colonists killed.

The game is only available from them directly too, so no DRM of any-kind. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Wow! This looks and sounds very interesting. I’m considering picking the game up. I really like the setting and design; and beautiful music too.

By the way, listening to the music, which in places sounds from an old Western film, I wish someone would make a similar game with a Western theme. That would be awesome!

Finally, since this is my first time posting on Gaming on Linux, great website! Came across some very interesting news here lately and have meanwhile bookmarked it.

Nice game. Played it with easy AI and.. well, got bored within a couple of hours.
Should probably try Randy sometime :D
