It has finally happened. Star Conflict the MMO we have been telling you about recently has now landed on Linux thanks to Steam.

It was supposed to land with the most recent update, but the developers had been waiting on Valve to fix some dependency issues for them.

It's a free 2 play space MMO with mixed reviews, some stating it's the best thing since sliced bread and others being a no/maybe. Still, I find it funny anyone can put 99+ hours into something and not recommend it, you wouldn't play for that long if it wasn't fun somehow.

See you in space pilots. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

confirming it works.. few graphical glitches on highest settings though. like some random black square appears for 0.5s or something, nothing game breaking however.

game looks and controls super good.

When I click "register" in the game, or on http://star-conflict.com/en/registration absolutely nothing happens. How do I get an account?

Tried it out yesterday and was not overwhelmed to be honest. I tried PvP and PvE missions and maxed out the synergy of the first ship. However the action was not as engaging as I'd hoped it would be. A lack of purpose is noticeable. It's not really a MMO like TotalBiscuit mentioned. Perhaps it's all about the sector mode?

I was not impressed with the interface either. Map is confusing, match-making takes too long, support links don't really work and a quick search did not yield any links to an official knowledge-base for advanced concepts and options.

Not noticing I managed to spend all my coins by auto-replenishing some 'special' ammo I had to equip in one of the challenges :D

Needless to say I'm anything but a hardcore gamer ;)

It's not as polished or popular as something like world of tanks for sure, but I find it enjoyable...but I agree matchmaking does take a bit. I'm assuming lack of player base.
