It's not often I see a trailer for a game especially on Kickstarter and just think "wow I really want to back this project". The Universim has done this to me.

Before writing about it I asked about the status of the Linux version:

Crytivo GamesHello there Liam! We are attempting to develop them all in parallel, but we usually test all new changes in Windows first before implementing solutions in Linux. This is just to ensure maximum stability when pushing towards new builds. I hope that helps!

I always try to find out now if a Linux version already exists due to how poorly multiple projects have handled their Linux releases, thankfully The Universim looks like a safe bet.

The is a bit like Reus only you are a hidden entity and with far more expansion to it.

About

"A vibrant, living world rests in your hands. With the powers of a god, you have the ability to change everything if you so wish, but time always flows on. Your civilization will evolve throughout the ages, with or without your guidance. You are taking control of a living simulation, not the same static world you are accustomed to. The AI will make many of its own decisions, and the world will change dynamically, throwing various challenges at your civilization at random times. You can attempt to influence your civilization’s decisions, or simply watch as their decisions begin to bear fruit or lead them into ruin.

However, when it comes to research choices, exploration, and colonization of alien planets, you have complete control. You can select their research path, and develop whatever technologies you deem important for the near future. Be warned, though. Research decisions play a crucial role in how your civilization progresses from era to era. Failure to do adequate research into the appropriate field for the time period will cause your civilization to suffer, or even perish entirely."

Finally, you can vote for it on greenlight to be on Steam right here.

Are you as in love with this as I am?

I'll take a look at it when I get home, but if it's as awesome as it sounds I'll back it.

At first I was like "meh, more kickstarter stuff, who cares?!" and then I saw the video, bye bye money...

I may have to break the "No more kickstarter" rule for this one.

Will take a better look tonight.

Backed it. =)

Hm, was expecting something visually amazing the way you hyped it, but nope, this features that damn ugly Warcraft 3 3D look that somehow managed to stay alive to this day (WoW, I suppose). And the game itself seems to be a god sim, so that's a definite skip for me. Cool voiceover, though.

backed. Looks very exciting, hope by that low amount of money they can keep the promise in the end. By the media publishing it got today, it could get the cash part.

It definitely looks exciting, and the gameplay idea for a god-like game is fun.

@PontifexMinimus: who cares, it's a sim ... there is way more fun to a sim than only graphics. And graphics can be improved. By cash .. or rather designers you throw the cash at ;-).

Why no more kickstarter? Any bad experience?
