Wasteland 2 the post-apocalyptic RPG has so far been absent from Linux gamers shelves, that will end soon.

Thomas Beekers, inXile line producerHello Liam,

The Linux version of the Wasteland 2 beta is deep into testing, with results looking good so far. We are hopeful it can be made live when the next Wasteland 2 beta update goes out, but this is not a certainty at this stage. If it does not go live with the upcoming build, it will almost certainly go live along with the update after that one.

Thanks,
Thomas

About
Wasteland 2 is the direct sequel to 1988’s Wasteland, the first-ever post-apocalyptic computer RPG and the inspiration behind the Fallout series. Until Wasteland, no other CRPG had ever allowed players to control and command individual party members for tactical purposes or given them the chance to make moral choices that would directly affect the world around them. Wasteland was a pioneer in multi-path problem solving, dripping in choice and consequence and eschewing the typical one-key-per-lock puzzle solving methods of its peers, in favor of putting the power into players’ hands to advance based on their own particular play style.

The game was crowdfunded in April of 2012, so it's great to see them finally bring it over to our platform as promised.

As we always suggest, if you haven't picked it up yet then wait until the Linux version hits to prevent getting burned. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Yippee.

I'll buy the bugger right after someone here confirms there's Linux version!

I'll be waiting for the final release (if not longer). I really wanna play it (hence why I backed it), but I haven't ever really enjoyed playing unfinished games in the relatively-recent era of ship-now-patch-later, let alone when they're purposely released unfinished. But at least they're labeling it honestly nowadays.

Although, it looks pretty great... I may make it an exception.

That's my feeling too. For RPGs and adventure games, unfinished versions can spoil the experience. I'd wait for the release.

Great news! :D

I really enjoy this game. It was my first game as backer and made me proud to fight for a Linux version.

(PS. Now, I can remove the Windows partition I've installed on my machine just to beta test Wasteland 2...)
