We only pointed Another Star out a few days ago and it has now pushed out the Linux version! The game caught my attention with its really authentic looking retro visuals, complete with a CRT screen effect.

The game has a demo, so you can try it before you but it which is always useful.

About
Another Star is a console-style RPG with a fast-paced battle system and a world that encourages players to explore and discover hidden areas as they lead their party on a journey across a fantasy world. While clearly influenced by the style and gameplay of the past, the game also implements innovations and ideas from the present. Random battles are less intrusive than classic console RPGs, alerting the player when enemies have been encountered, but giving them the choice to accept and fight, or ignore and continue exploring.

Though the game is crammed into a single 128×128 pixel tile sheet, Another Star still manages to bring you a vast world to explore. Secrets are hidden everywhere, and you never know what you might find on the next screen. Those who take the time to explore instead of merely rushing to the next objective are certain to be rewarded.

The game uses Mono, so you need to make sure you have that installed. I can't get it to run just yet as I am missing "libmonoboehm-2.0.so.1" which I cannot seem to find. As much as I love Linux, dependency issues like this are such a pain.

That's a shame, I will have to wait until I upgrade then (Linux Mint 16).
