Hive Board Game Adaption To Hit Linux Soon

Hive is a licensed version of the Mensa Select award-winning board game also called Hive and it's currently in beta for Linux.

About
Hive is a board game with a difference. There is no board! The pieces are added to the playing area thus creating the board. As more and more pieces are added the game becomes a fight to see who can be the first to capture (surround) the opposing Queen Bee.

What I like about it is like a true board game it allows you to play with multiple players on locally, no need for going online to find people just play with your friends. Could be decent for Steam Machines since it has full game-pad support.

It sounds like fun and it looks pretty good too! Anyone who owns it can access the beta from Steam and it will eventually be official.

The developers noted as they use MonoGame-SDL2 the port actually took 3 days to complete, they also noted they actually contribute to MG-SDL2 and to Steamworks-CS directly. It's only a two man team as well.

They have more changes on the way for online games like ELO ratings, they are trying to keep the community going.

Looks fantastic!

Reason to buy a Steam-controller, even. Very interesting with these types of games (couch/MP friendly!) for the PC.

I can see these type of things need to turn up, for the couch/desk gaming worlds to merge a bit.
