Valve have delivered big with the latest Steam beta-client update with enabling in-home streaming for one and all! Masses of fixes everywhere on this one.
Along-side enabling the streaming for all of us, they have further improved OpenGL asynchronous capture performance, so there should be even less lag now.
One major, but little feature is this "DLC can now be disabled in the DLC properties page for a game", so you can directly turn off DLC you own for a game if the game itself does not give you that option, could be pretty damned useful.
The Steam Music beta was also updated to improved all around performance to not be so sluggish at adding new tracks and better handling of all music files.

It should also be noted that you currently can only stream from Windows and Mac boxes. Linux hosts have been disabled currently with the intention of fixing some bugs; unfortunately meaning that those only possessing Linux boxes, including myself, are currently out of luck :P

Yup, Steam sez:"Streaming from a Linux host is not yet supported."
Patience, patience.
