A bit of a sore spot for me personally, but there is light at the end of the tunnel! Scrolls is the rather good card battle game created by Mojang (creators of Minecraft). We have covered the game coming to Linux a few times now, so it's good to see another update.

MansOlsen has publicly stated this on reddit:
QuoteThe launcher was indeed the major reason we haven't ventured into Linux space. I'm hoping we'll be able to look at it shortly after the launcher is ready for Windows and OSX, but I'm not yet ready to share an ETA.

So, it's exactly what I said before that the launcher was never ported to Linux, but the new one can & will be. A launcher like that doesn't exactly take long to stabilise against the rest of the game, so it shouldn't be too long I hope.

I actually purchased the game based on their original tweet announcing Linux support which was in 2012, so you can imagine my annoyance waiting this long, but hey good things come to those who wait!

Will you pick it up when it arrives? Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Honestly, this looks like a minigame you'd expect to see stuffed into a bigger game. I don't get all the fuss about it.

It's a pretty deep strategy game. It's like playing out a board game with cards in a PC game and watch your units come alive on the screen.

There are multiple types of decks, a deck builder to choose exactly what cards you take into battle with you and more.

It's really good.

You can say the same thing for all Card Games (physical or digital). They’re MUCH deeper than they appear to be.

The other day I purchased "Cards City Nights" in a sale on Humble Store.

Looks a bit naive because the graphics and the characters (Ittle Dew).

But the card game itself is addictive.

As for this "Scrolls", I'll stay tuned for more news.

Sadly it doesn't work in Wine so as usual that's not an option, the launcher works, but once in-game the buttons on the menu-bar do nothing. Links in to why I always say Wine isn't a solution, it's just a pain.
