Stunt Rally is the great open source stunt rally racing game for Linux. This is a brand new just released major version.

The new version has 7 new tracks, all tracks have a refreshed look to them as well. Terrain textures have seen an improvement with bigger textures.

The game now totals a massive 153 tracks and they will most likely add more in future too, but are a lot of tracks going to keep it interesting? Well that's up to you of course.

I gave it a trial run and found the cars incredibly hard to control, the simplest movement can take you straight off the track, but I guess that's what it's all about. I much prefer it to be at-least a little bit more realistic myself over the slightest touch sending you flying left or right.

Here you can watch me utterly fail at driving:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who fails miserably at controlling the Stunt Rally car. My son thinks it's hilarious.

I really want to like this game, and I really do for short periods, but it is far too unforgiving in the car handling and the physics is also a bit like driving on the moon in icy conditions.

It'seems got fantastic potential, though, and a tremendous track editor.

That's me on every driving game even though I can actually drive a car in the real world without crashing it every few seconds.:D

That's a good way to compare it, the handling is god damned awful.

Damn...what the heck was that on the video...was it a dog playing?

Use the BACKSPACE key people!!!! It rewinds the game, no need to restart every time. You can also use Nitro with Shift.

Also, The Crystal Hammer (the developer) thinks it makes the game too easy so he won't enable it by default, but I highly recommend turning on ABS and TCS in the settings.

BTW. Boost is with Ctrl.
You can tweak keyboard input sensitivity on Input tab in Options (alt-I, Player 1, combo with set from preset, e.g. Slow).
But yeah this is a simulation, don't expect to know how to drive the first day, right, or week, that's the fun in it.
