SuperTuxKart a lot of Linux users favourite little open source racer often compared to Nintendo's Mario Kart is to get a ton of graphical updates.

I loved seeing the before and after bits, the game actually looks really quite something at times now and I will be surprised if this doesn't help it pick up popularity.

What's great about all of this is that this is the result of Google Summer of Code work by "Lauri Kasanen" to improve the Irrlicht game engine to give it many more advanced features, so this will actually benefit others too.

After that another developer "Vincent LeJeune" started to write a new engine to allow for even more.

They are also aiming for a more consistent art style to help as well and it's really showing, I think it looks awesome.

They aren't leaving people with slow computers out in the cold, with plenty of options to turn off to make your experience smooth.

They should really sell this on steam to help fund the project and game engine (which would then help other devs by giving them a good open source game engine to work with). There's nothing to say that open source means no profit, and those who still want it for free could still get it.

I actually liked the game pace before... The pace shown in the video seems too fast to me, I hope it won't be what will represent the official version.

Yeah the game looked way too fast I don't know if it was sped up...The guy also has a tough time staying in the small path/track.

I agree with this. That is how the elementary OS team does it as well. It offers elementary OS as a download for a default 10$ but allows people to download elementary OS for free right below that offer. I really would like to see SuperTuxKart gain more attention and funding.
