XCOM: Enemy Unknown looks like it has entered testing for Linux thanks to some updates we spotted earlier.

Earlier we spotted some updates on the SteamDB:

Now, when you look into this more deeply you will find that the Linux testing depots are no longer encypted and the test depot here lists that the "XCOM: Enemy Unknown Mac and Linux for Beta Testing" was also updated 4 days ago.

So, will the saga of waiting on it finally end? Could be a reality soon with all this new evidence.

It won't download anything yet, so don't waste time trying it still has lots of bits to put together before it would be downloadable. That's if it does come to Linux it is all still unconfirmed.

We will keep an eye on it and update you all as needed, that's if we aren't too busy playing it when it lands for Linux.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a remake of one of my all-time favourite games, mixing base-building with slick turn-based action making it awesome. It's highly rated too, so it would be welcome. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Well, to be honest, it makes a lot of sense to port Civ V, if not for general Linux machines, for SteamOS, because it is one of the most played AND most owned games on all Steam. And if Steam wants to push it's OS on the mainstream, a huge game like Civ V it is really a plus for that.
