Crystal Catacombs is a fantastic looking 2D Procedural Death Labyrinth that is now out for Linux and promises lots of death.

The game has plenty of random level generation to keep you interested mixed in with unique enemies too. The graphics are going for the ultra retro style with a heavily pixelated look, so it may not be to some of your tastes, but I think it looks great. It actually looks a fair bit like Tallowmere.

It's $10 using the Humble Store widget, or you can pay $15 to get some sweet tunes with it, so it's a pretty decent price-point too.

What do you guys think to it? We have quite a few of these games now too, what are some of your favourites? Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I impulse bought this, put in about 3 hours so far, and really enjoyed it. If you are one of those people always complaining about pixel art platformers, this won't change your mind, but if you think you'll like it, you probably will.

Lemmywinks, is the game scaled for any resolution? Or is the viewport increased?

I don't know man... I kinda left the Amiga behind in the early nineties, and if I want to revisit that era again I'd rather fire up my old trusty A500.

In other words: I don't get all these kind of releases nowadays. I really don't. These things belong to the mobile phone market.

tiger-there are about 6 resolutions to choose from...not sure if that answers your question.

Beamboom- I get the backlash. At the same time, most new games are not very original anyways, regardless of how obviously retro they look, so I'm perfectly fine with something like this. The appeal is definitely in the retro sci-fi aesthetic, combined with more modern game play.

Bought it recently, played it for a hour. So far I can say:
- its hard like a hell. I play it on 2nd skill level and I die a lot
- gameplay could be more enjoyable by better keyboard control of player, by more precise control of player
- so far I was not able to get to level 3 (boss) :-D
- I continue playing
