It's a hidden object game, not a true adventure game. I've finished three games from Artifex Mundi and after this I'm quite fed up by them, because stories are incredibly schmaltzy. But they have quite good hidden object scenes (especially in Nightmares from the Deep) and nice detailed drawings (but also somehwat kitchy). Logical puzzles are uninspiring. Best HOGs for linux are still games from Total Eclipse (The Clockwork Man: Hidden World).

It's really annoying when I see "adventure game" and get my hopes up.... only to find out it's a hidden object game. To call these games casual would be an understatement, the puzzle elements are barely there and it's mostly just a clickfest.

Actually there are WAY less hidden object searches in this game than mini-games and for the vast majority of time you will do the core p'n'c gameplay involving collectin and using inventory items. You will also do 12 evidence deductions which is a gameplay element leading through the story. And it is the story that is most important here. How can you question the word "adventure" in the category then?
By the way, good casual adventures are usually much better than core p'n'cs with incomparably better graphics and gameplay fluency. This one is a great example.
Next time please do play first and then comment because you might not be aware how horribly wrong your initial presumptions may be.
