Kingdom Rush is a tower defense game that is not re-inventing the style but worth trying it if you like the genre.
Kingdom Rush Review
Description
Kingdom Rush is a tower defense game where you can have 4 kind of towers (Archers Tower, Barracks, Mages, Dwarven Bombard); 2 powers (meteors and reinforcements) that needs a certain time to be used again and a hero.
Each level gives up to 3 stars that can be used to upgrade some components and with the evolution of the game, it gives you access for updates of the towers and also you will be able to select a different hero where each of them has different characteristics.
The games is available on steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/246420/) and there is a version free to play on the web (http://armorgames.com/play/12141/kingdom-rush) (I don't think all the levels are available though)
Graphics and sound (8/10)
The graphics are very nice; Cartoonish style. The various enemies come from different paths (pretty standard) and there are areas like cemetery where skeletons can raise from their grave which is pretty fun.
The sound is great, the hero makes some comments when controlling it or when creating towers... It is not too much, seems to be a good balance to not annoy you.
Fun (7.5/10)
I have a great time playing that game and with the upgrade of the different towers, it gives a lot of combinations (more are available going through each levels). The cartoonish graphics and the easiness of the first levels gives the impression of a game more for kids, but it does not take very long for the levels to get quite challenging.
It is a classic tower defense game, even with the different combination of upgrades, it becomes a repetitive game; and when doing the same level multiple times because you don't find the right combination of towers and upgrades to go through the level, it becomes very frustrating.
Conclusion (8/10)
Kingdom Rush is a good tower defense game overall. I had a lot of fun playing it (although I've not completed the game yet). If you like that kind of game, I would recommend to give it a try.
Check it out on Steam.
