OpenRA is a really great project for people who remember games like Command & Conquer, Tiberian Sun & Dune 2000 as this engine uses the units and building from those games using the legally released free downloads for them in a much more up to date engine.

Sadly due to how different the engines are the single-players are not supported easily, but it works great to play online and against AI bots. They are working on the single-player however and in Red Alert the first 1 allied missions are now available.

I have some really fond memories of the original Red Alert and I really hope this gets to a state of being able to have all the campaigns fully playable that would be a true win for me. The engine being open source is also of course excellent and available to check out on github.

I hope they do eventually work on creating their own 100% open units and buildings, as then the game would rock even more.

I've tested it and it works great on both my main PC and work laptop (Intel HD4000), so even for low end users looking for some RTS action it's a good choice.

Is Intel HD4000 lowend? And you are not sure OpenRA will work on this? :DDDD

Yes Intel HD4000 is pretty low-end as far as graphics go, my laptop is only a cheapskate one too and came with it.

I would've really liked to see a port like this for Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge :'(
