ROCCAT our favourite peripheral maker has shown off something fun at E3 this year that aims to help PC gamers reclaim their Sofa. They call it the SOVA.
They have unveiled a rather odd looking keyboard with a mouse pad attached to it, it has USB ports on the side and a place to hook up your smartphone. Sounds like a fantastic device, but I imagine it will be expensive as all specialised hardware like this usually is. There isn't a word on the price yet, so keep your eyes peeled.
You can see the official website for it here.
What do you think to this? For me it's extremely useful as I will be having a tv mounted onto a wall, so this would enable me to use it quite easily.

I'm buying this unless a competitor beats ROCCAT to the punch, and I hope they consider adding a version for left-handers.

Good news for Steam Machines :)

I generally prefer a controller, but for some games it's a must. Definitely a good invention.

I really wonder what is so new about such a product ?
I build myself and my colleague a small wooden table (80x30 cm) with four metal feets (about 30 cm high) which enables us to play games with an ordinary mouse / keyboard on our HTPCs.
Depending on the material you choose this costs you around 20€. Pretty hard to beat IMO....

I love my Roccat keyboard and mouse, but your right @tiger the price will dictate whether this is a winner or not. It's a good idea but not an all together new one

Holy crap, I will need a second sofa to hold that massive hunk of junk when not in use!

Quoting: liamdaweNot many of us are that handy with a bunch of tools ;)True..but give the fact that most people are able to use a screw driver to replace some NIC or graphic adapter, building such a "couch table" is not too hard to do. You most likely find matching wooden case boards in the your local hardware store (eg. 80x25 cm, 80x30cm) and then only need to screw the table feets to the board with four screws each.
Funny enough we decided to build this table a while ago when Valve announced the Steam Controller and we both like the idea of "couch gaming". :D

Maybe in terms of hardware, but ROCCAT still has open source Linux drivers and that since 2008 so there is the good will factor as well.
