About
Steam Marines is a squad based Roguelike set on a steampunk spaceship. It features tactical play focused on positioning and careful use of resources. Built to keep you on your toes as you progress through the decks of your besieged ship while clearing enemies and trying to reach each level's elevator.

Build your marines up into long range or up close death machines, but don't expect any mercy. Death is permanent and fallen marines are gone forever. Finding survivors not guaranteed.

Command up to four marines, each with their own gear, talents, and Action Points. Positioning is critical - even a lone enemy can be lethal! Sight and snipe or funnel enemies into a choke point and blow them up!

Linux users have been asking for a Linux version since October last year at-least and the developer has slowly been working towards porting it. So, it's great to see it happen.

The game itself is still in Early Access, so don't expect a bug-free experience. So, in future you can play Steam Marines on your Steam Machines what fun!

Now if you will excuse me I'm off to ignore the world while I play it to death. Check it out on Steam.

"What the heck is "procedural death"?"

Seems like a "Space Hulk" ripoff to me... As we already have Space Hulk on Linux/SteamOS, can't see myself getting this..

Based on what exactly makes it a rip-off?

More like a Bionic Dues clone. Looks good though. The video has made me want to sink more hours into Bionic Dues right enough...

Aaah finally the day has come, Linux users are complaining about having too many games.

By the way, this looks like it has nothing in common with Space Hulk (which is an excellent game btw, get it if you don't have it). I'm not into PDLs (hilarious term) but this actually looks good (says the SF fan in me)

Liam, about the spamming: have you considered disabling guest comments or using a service like Disqus?

Not to be a d*ck, but that game has a metascore all the way down in the 50s. It can't possibly be excellent.

Except this pre-dates Bionic Dues by a long way and you'll be happy to know they are nothing alike.

Are you prepared to accuse every single turn-based strategy game with squads of being Space Hulk ripoffs? Is X-Com also a Space Hulk ripoff? Because that's basically how daft that comment is. In my opinion we need more of these types of games, there aren't nearly enough.

PSA, folks: "It's better to remain silent and appear stupid, than to speak and remove all doubt."

Really? That seems a bit of a stretch. Steam puts "Steam Marines" at September 2013 and it's still Early Access. Meanwhile Bionic Dues is one month later, October 2013, full release.

Unless you know of development that happened before their Steam launch of course, of have some kind of insider developer knowledge?

Anyway, I'm not sure I'm "happy to know they are nothing alike". Bionic Dues is excellent - I've sunk 20 hours into that game, more than FTL. Hell, more than most AAA games, even from my Windows days - Bioshock Infinite took me just over 12 hours to complete and I had no desire to play it again. Metro Last Light was the same - 10 hours and despite downloading a bit of DLC on sale last month, I still haven't played it again.

Hey, Liam - any update on Halfway? Robotality are terrible at keeping their blog up to date - it's been over 3 months without any news.
