So, it really does seem like Crytek were in financial trouble after all. Deep Silver has now purchased the rights to the Homefront franchise and setup a new studio to work on the game. We asked them about Linux support, and the answer wasn't clear.

Still it is early days, so it may just be a simple case of not having properly looked into it all yet. I would hope they wouldn't just drop a platform that was previously announced, and they are Linux friendly. We just need to hope for the best on this one, but at least the game is in much safer hands now.
QuoteToday, Koch Media together with its publishing label Deep Silver announces that it has acquired the Homefront brand and all coherent assets from Crytek. This includes Homefront: The Revolution which has been announced on 2nd June 2014. The development will be continued in newly founded, Nottingham-based Deep Silver Dambuster Studios.
“We are thrilled to see another great IP joining the Deep Silver universe,” says Dr. Klemens Kundratitz. “We strongly believe in the potential of Homefront: The Revolution and trust in the new team to continue the path we have been walking in the last years.”
Deep Silver Dambuster Studios is the third development studio within the Koch Media Group, joining Deep Silver Volition and Deep Silver Fishlabs.

Well, at the very least on Deep Silvers homepage they got a banner saying "Homefront Revolution: Coming to Xbox One, Playstation 4, PC, Mac and Linux in 2015".

So there's definitely hope.

That was there pre-acquisition, was it not?Oh - I don't know. Was it always supposed to be distributed by them? Ahhh... Bummer. Well then I guess we're back to square one.

Deep Silver are the original publishers, but now they actually own the rights and setup their own studio. So, it's their choice 100% if Linux is supported or not.

Well a new studio, and that would no doubt be some of the original studio I'm sure.

Depends on what's happened with Crytek UK as a result of the deal.

Yeah, the situation is confused. http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/07/30/crytek-u-k-is-closing-down-following-homefront-sale-while-austin-studio-suffers-layoffs/ implies Crytek UK is being shut down full stop. Hopefully someone will actually clarify what is and is not going on soon.

"On completion of the proposed acquisition, the Homefront team from Crytek's Nottingham studio would transfer their talents to Koch Media in compliance with English law and continue their hard work on upcoming shooter, "Homefront: The Revolution". Both parties hope to finalize and implement a deal soon."

Since CryEngine supports Linux, they already announced support for it and Deep Silver having brought some games to Linux, I think chances are quite good.

Depending on how far the Cry engine probably is in supporting linux. I never worked with it, so I really don't know.

We asked them about Linux support, and the answer wasn't clear.I know I'm not a legitimate source of course, but I honestly believe that means yes to Linux support. They would have said "we don't plan on supporting Linux at this time" or something to that effect, but the fact they are saying we're going to share information about Linux support in the future means they are going to make a Linux announcement in the future, and the only reason for a "Linux announcement" is to talk about their Linux version.

So, yes, Homefront will be coming to Linux IMO.
I'd guess it's too early to say. But at least, on deepsilver homepage it still states Linux. I guess they'll iron out it later in the process. The answer probably means - they don't know yet if and when, maybe it will be a release, maybe not, maybe a later release.

Well in fact they didn't bring anything to Linux themselves, only 4A Games ported Metro Last Light to Linux on their own. Also, having contacted their support a while ago, I don't think Deep Silver cares that much about Linux.
