As you might have heard, GamingOnLinux.com is turning 5 years old today and what better way to celebrate the occasion than to play some games and chat with you guys live?

Like our previous stream, I'll try to play multiple games during the livestream, which will hopefully last 2 hours. There is no definite list of games that we will play, but it's very likely that we will play some of the new games (XCOM, Mount & Blade). You can also suggest games to be played on the chat.

However, unlike the previous stream, this one will be hosted on Twitch.tv and not on YouTube. I heard that German viewers were not able to watch the stream, because YouTube's livestreaming is not available in Germany for some reason. So go check the Twitch channel and follow it if you want to.

Also remember that the chatting will be done on the Twitch channel using Twitch's chat. We don't want to bother the IRC people with one-sided conversations. ;)

So, prepare for a couple of hours of gaming on Linux done live.

I'll set Twitch to record a VOD of the event, so you can watch it afterwards if you feel like it. :)

That would be awesome, I will see if I can download it then and we can stick it on our youtube as well.

Twitch can also upload the VODs directly to YouTube, so we don't have to spend any of our bandwidth to do that. :D

QuoteI heard that German viewers were not able to watch the stream, because YouTube's livestreaming is not available in Germany for some reason

The reason is that in Germany, you have to get a broadcast license if you can reach more than 500 people. This law was meant to stop pirate TV and radion stations, but YouTube live streaming was also deemed to be broadcasting.

Quotechatting will be done on the Twitch channel using Twitch's chat. We don't want to bother the IRC people

Just in case people don't know: You can connect to Twitch chat via IRC using your favourite IRC client. Way more comfortable IMHO.
